Mick McCarthy has offered some more insight into that now-infamous ‘Careless Whisper’ video, insisting he “stopped short of blowing a kiss”.

A clip of the former Republic of Ireland manager gazing into the match-day camera while in charge at Wolves went viral some time ago, and he’s been answering questions about it ever since.

Once someone added George Michael’s classic hit ‘Careless Whisper’, it became the football classic we know and love today.

This iconic clip was brought up while McCarthy chatted on Sky Sports’ The Football Show and he explained his thoughts in the moment.

‘It’s one of those things you guys are guilty of, the camera man always wants to come and get right in your face.

‘What do you do?

I don’t know. I think I stopped short of blowing him a kiss to be quite honest.’

The 61-year-old also revealed he is chomping at the bit to get back into management after his long lay-off.
